Introduction:

In a groundbreaking crossover that redefined the relationship between football and sneaker culture, Nike introduced the NJR x Jordan Hypervenom Phantom II in 2016 — a collaboration that transcended sport and style. Worn by Neymar Jr., and inspired by Michael Jordan’s legacy, these boots were more than just performance gear. They were a statement.

Two Colourways, One Legacy

The original Black/Infrared edition was the first to drop, echoing the classic Air Jordan V in its design, palette and attitude. Complete with the Jumpman logo, reflective detailing, and Neymar’s signature flair, it instantly became a must-have for collectors and fans alike.

Following its success, Nike released a second version: the White/Red colourway – a cleaner, bolder interpretation of the collab. The upper was predominantly white with Gym Red detailing, again featuring the Jumpman and signature “23” stitching on one boot and Neymar’s “10” on the other. Both pairs carried reflective tongues inspired by the Air Jordan series and were released in ultra-limited numbers.

Design Highlights Across Both Boots:

  • Jumpman logo on heel and soleplate

  • “23” and “10” stitched onto the upper (Jordan & Neymar)

  • Reflective detailing referencing the Jordan V

  • Colourway inspired by iconic AJ releases

  • Premium presentation box with branded tissue and inserts

  • ACC (All Conditions Control) for consistent performance

  • Dynamic Fit Collar for locked-in support

  • Split-toe plate for responsive movement

  • Conical studs optimised for agility and acceleration

The Legacy: Neymar, Jordan & a Gold Medal Moment

Neymar debuted the black colourway at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where Brazil claimed their first-ever Olympic gold in football — an emotional high for the host nation. The boots instantly became synonymous with that moment, solidifying their place in the modern boot hall of fame.

Though the white version didn’t carry the same matchday legacy, its rarity and bold design made it a collector’s grail in its own right — often priced higher in the resale market due to its exclusivity.

They’re not just boots. They’re history, stitched and laced.
